The New Hampshire-based band’s first track from their upcoming album delves into themes of retribution and relentless perseverance. The song blends ferocious riffs with a touch of synth, offering melodic moments while maintaining an unyielding intensity throughout. With influences ranging from modern metalcore giants like Polaris to the heavier, more chaotic stylings of Attack Attack!, "Undertaker" showcases a seamless fusion of both old and new-school metalcore elements.
“Protect and survive,” growls vocalist Colin Trombley during the breakdown. The chugging guitar glitches and skips, amplifying the disorder, before guitarist Bobby Wharton’s dissonant lead riff pulls everything into focus, driving the track forward with raw power.

“‘Undertaker’ reflects a time we went through as a band to survive,” they explain of the song’s inspiration. “Personal experiences fueled the lyrics and the emotions we felt during that period, pushing us to move forward and not let anything stand in our way.”
"Undertaker" is a call for change, with Trombley roaring, “Burn a witch at the stake / The more that you lie will desecrate the grave” in the first verse.
The band credits their newest members, Matt Pro and Graham Fortier, with pushing their songwriting to new heights.
“This is the first time fans will hear Matt’s voice with us,” they share. “The lyrics tell a story, with a few Easter eggs from past tracks that we’re excited for listeners to discover. This song represents a fresh energy with Matt and Graham’s determination. It’s amazing to have members who are hungry and driven to push the band to its fullest potential.”
In Shallows’ debut full-length album is expected to drop in late 2025. "Undertaker" follows last year’s single, “World Fire,” and a sold-out show at the Worcester Palladium with Devitalized, Nailed Shut, Slamwich, and No Allegiance.

ABOUT IN SHALLOWS
In Shallows is a four-piece metalcore band based in Keene, New Hampshire. Their journey began in June 2021 with the release of their debut single, "Phantom Grace," quickly establishing themselves in the heavy music scene. This was followed by their EP Beneath The Surface, a collection of intense breakdowns, heavy riffs, and a dynamic blend of screaming and clean vocals that made an immediate impact.
The success of their EP fueled the band’s desire to push boundaries further, teaming up once again with producer/engineer Robbie Litchfield at Hell Here Studios to record a series of new singles that captured the attention of an expanding fanbase.
Having played numerous shows across New England, In Shallows is eager to continue reaching new listeners. With a full-length album on the way, it's clear that In Shallows is not slowing down anytime soon
